NBFE offers a program that assists families of difficult children with a comprehensive assessment by highly trained licensed professional counselors who have attained the diplomate status of certified forensic mental health evaluator.
Counselor specializing in the needs of problem children gives us relief in knowing that families of difficult children can be transformed and helped. Now, there is help and hope for those parents who are seeking to correct the maladaptive behavior of their children.
Parents whose children have behavioral disorders that are not responding to the normal therapeutic process, counseling, education, guidance, parental guidance and are at risk of becoming offenders, delinquents (Sead, 1999), Warr, M., (2009) and parents who cannot afford the services necessary for these children will be afforded such services.
Parents will be introduced and trained to apply skills and techniques to aid their children who lack bonding and generally are disconnected from their caretakers. The transformation program will also assist parents in alleviating their own guilt and remorse because of self blame.
Many of the children who are seen are commonly diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder, antisocial personality disorder, conduct disorder and other conduct maladies. Although these diagnoses define some of the behavioral traits of children, these families are also faced with children also have some of the character traits of adult antisocial personality disorder. Therefore, diagnosing these families and their children requires specific data to assess this condition accurately.
PLAN I:
...is designed so that the family can travel to the National Board of Forensic Evaluators (NBFE) main office in Ormond Beach, Fl. In order to facilitate an effective and workable treatment plan, it is helpful that the parent's video tape typical examples of the:
a. childs/childrens target behaviors
b. parents reactions to target behaviors
c. method of discipline
d. interaction between parents and child/children
The family would then travel to the NBFE main office where they will take part in a 1 1/2 day comprehensive assessment process including a psychosocial interview, diagnostic workup of the entire family system, interactive role-play and modeling, and an individually designed family treatment plan.
PLAN II:
...is designed to accommodate a Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator (CFMHE) to travel to the home of the family. It would be helpful, but not mandatory, for the CFMHE to be able to review a video tape of the 4 points listed in Plan I.
PLAN III:
Skype.com. is downloaded, and with the use of a wide angle webcam, the children can be observed-live interacting. For the most optimal results, a wide angle or dome type camera equipped with a microphone is recommended. Parent and child assessments would be utilized as conducted in Plan I.
