Description

Many mental health professionals lack training on factitious disorder imposed on another (FDIA), also known as "Munchausen by Proxy" or "medical child abuse." Evaluating for FDIA can be complicated, so so we're offering an introductory webinar consisting of an overview of DSM-5-TR criteria for FDIA and current research on FDIA.

Learning Objectives

Objective 1: Identify the DSM-5-TR criteria of FDIA.

Objective 2: Describe similarities between FDIA and medical child abuse.

Objective 3: Summarize the most recent research on FDIA.

Objective 4: Differentiate between Malingering and FDIA.

Presenter

Dr. Ari Gartin, Ph.D., LMHC

Dr. Ari Gartin, Ph.D., LMHC is a clinical and forensic psychology consultant and the founder of Ariga Psychological Services, LLC. She worked with Detective Mike Weber, M.A., a nationally recognized law enforcement expert in FDIA investigations who has led and consulted on dozens of high-profile cases, during her doctoral training, and she is currently consulting with Professor Beatrice (Bea) Yorker, J.D., R.N., M.S., F.A.A.N., a nationally recognized authority on Munchausen by Proxy and medical child abuse who has served as an expert witness in civil and criminal cases across the country, on active FDIA cases.
